Watchfolders and the new Agility

1. Submissions watchfolder works and delivers WMV and Quicktime to the appropriate servers.

2. Youtube watchfolder has been replaced with 3 watchfolders (1feature_h264,2standard_h264,3longplay_h264) the bumper and trailer have a low rumble and pops using the same file that was silent in the previous Anystream version. Called support at 4:40pm 8/4/2008. Awaiting Response.

3. I will document the submissions job as it is fully functional and the youtube job/folder as it works except for the bumper and trailer tomorrow.

4. Should we have a high and low res H.264 watchfolder?

H.264 testing

Mpeg-4 H.264 testing

-Process has escaleted to encoding 26 minute History of Case Video to assess quality and file sizes.

-3 choices, Mpeg-4 CBR (constant Bit Rate), MPEG-4 Variable Bitrate, and Quicktime H.264 Constant bit rates.

-Target or CBR was set to 700 kbps for all three

-Mpeg-4 H.64's took 1 hr for a 27 minute clip.
-Quicktime took 1 hour 6 minutes

-Results will be posted on itunes once uploaded.

Files are now on itunes in the H264 Test Album

-So far the Quicktime looks way better with dissolves and motion. More research is needed.

imac specs

Three levels

Good
20 inch model has only 256 MB graphics card and 2.66 processor. $1500
For DVD authoring, Mpeg Streamclip, Snapz Pro, tube TV it will be more than adequate.

Better

24 inch model bumps to 2.88 processor, 500 GB internal, and 512 graphics card. $2000
Faster transcoding, (but really how much faster?) Full Final Cut Studio Compatibility (including Motion 3). May be better for Second Life due to graphics card, but I will have to research.

Best
24 inch pimped out. But it costs $2500.
3.06 processor, 4 GB RAM, 750 internal HD. FCP editing and all things the Mac Pro can do.
